I, like many a white girl, love a good charcuterie board. It’s the perfect Sunday “lunch,” easy weeknight dinner, or girls’ night in plan. There’s just something about a board full of good snacks that makes everything feel a little more special — like you’re celebrating something even when you’re not.

While I’ll never claim to be a connoisseur of fancy cheeses, the best part about my kind of charcuterie is the simplicity. A few slices of your favorite meats, a couple of cheeses (nothing too fancy), some fruit, crackers, and maybe a drizzle of honey — that’s all you really need. It’s proof that you don’t need an elaborate spread to make something beautiful and delicious.

Charcuterie boards are one of those little joys that make the everyday feel like a moment worth slowing down for. Whether it’s shared with friends over a bottle of wine or enjoyed solo while watching your favorite show, it’s the kind of simple pleasure that turns the ordinary into something cheerful.

Easy Board Basics

If you want to put together a board without the stress, here are some simple go-to favorites that never disappoint. You can find most of these at Trader Joe’s or your local grocery store — no need for a specialty shop.

  • Meats: Calabrese salami, prosciutto, or capocollo.
  • Cheeses: Unexpected Cheddar, a seasonal cheese spread (like Holiday Cheer), or something creamy and mild.
  • Crackers: Brioche toasts, naan crackers, or pita bite crackers. Mix a few textures for variety.
  • Extras: Red pepper jelly, caramelized onion dip, or honey fig spread for a touch of sweetness.
  • Something fresh: Grapes, sliced apples, or dried cranberries to balance the salty flavors.

You can make it as simple or as dressed up as you want — just arrange everything on a wooden board, fill in the gaps with fruit or nuts, and you’ve got yourself a cozy little spread that feels special without trying too hard.
